General Description:
White Oak Mountain Ranch is a large secluded, yet accessible tract of native timber. Flag Pole Mountain Road on the outskirts of Clayton, OK affords access to the ranch after climbing nearly 1,000 feet in just over 3 miles. Views along the drive offer the occasional glimpse of the beautiful Ouachita Mountains as they climb out of the valley below. Flag Pole Mountain Road follows a ridge up the mountain and travels through the ranch. It separates a small portion north of the road from the majority of the property lying south of the road. On the north side of the road, the mountain drops off rapidly which affords a spectacular view overlooking Sardis Lake if the trees were thinned.
The majority of the property would be considered gently rolling but in the areas where the elevation changes, it drops off rapidly and drastically into stunning boulder lined drainages. There are two main drainage areas on the property. One is on the far east and the other is in the southwest corner. In between these two drainage areas are hundreds of acres of gently rolling timber loaded with white oak trees among other hardwoods.
While this property is secluded, it is merely 20 minutes off the mountain to the Choctaw Country Market which opened in August of 2016. The establishment is a beautiful facility that serves as a grocery store and gas station for the surrounding community.
Other nearby activities include water sports and tremendous fishing on 14,360 acre Sardis Lake. The lake is known for producing trophy quality bass and stringers of slab crappie! Also located nearby is the Talimena National Scenic Byway. This is a scenic stretch of highway that begins near Talahina, Oklahoma and winds for 54 miles through the beautiful Ouachita Mountains to Mena, Arkansas.
This property will take a special buyer that has a love for the seclusion offered. Water is not easily accessible, electricity is not nearby and cell coverage is only decent at best from the highest points. However, if you're looking for something unique, with unmatched beauty where you can enjoy the peaceful sound of the wind blowing through the pines as the cares of the world seem to fall away, then White Oak Mountain Ranch may just be the place for you.
