General Description:
Situated just above the Red River West of Idabel, OK sits Childress Farms. This is an extremely productive cow-calf operation with improved Bermuda grass pastures that cover the rolling terrain and rich bottomland soils. Rotational grazing and an average rainfall of 50+ inches annually have been the key elements to this ranch running up to 220 cow-calf pairs & bailing in excess of 500 round bales without the use of fertilizer. There are two designated hay meadows totaling +/-83 acres that are baled once a year and produce on average 4 bales/acre. These two meadows are also part of the grazing plan except from the months of June - August. Additional acreage is also put into hay according to the years rainfall. This ranch has an abundance of waterfowl opportunities as well. Migrating birds can be found loafing on a number of the ponds that sit above 2,500+ acres of row crop land next door.  Roughly 65 acres of the South end of the property are ideal for creating a waterfowl habitat for duck hunting.
